In accordance with the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, natural resource users carrying out activities that affect the environment are required to submit environmental reports to the National Data Bank (NDB). Users of the NDB are legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating Category I, II, III and IV facilities.
Data and Analytics Directorate
The Data and Analytics Directorate collects, processes, analyses and systematises environmental information, ensures the maintenance and development of the National Data Bank, and prepares analytical materials to support the activities of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Directorate ensures the reliability and quality of environmental data, facilitates access to environmental information within its competence, and contributes to effective management decision-making.
Components of the National Data Bank
Automated Monitoring System (AMS)
Designed for the automated collection, transmission, storage and display of continuous monitoring data on pollutant emissions from major industrial enterprises. It enables remote monitoring of compliance with environmental requirements.
Production Environmental Control (PEC)
The module is intended to receive and store production environmental control reports submitted by natural resource users in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR)
Contains information on volumes of pollutant emissions into the ambient air, discharges into water bodies, waste generation and transfer, and transfers of pollutants.
State Waste Cadastre
Intended to account for the generation, accumulation, transfer, processing, neutralisation, recovery and disposal of production and consumption waste.
State Carbon Cadastre
Provides for the accounting of installations, regulated entities, greenhouse gas emission allowances, carbon units and transactions within the emissions trading system.
Public Hearings Module
Enables public discussion of environmentally significant projects in electronic form, publication of materials and public information in order to implement the principles of openness and public participation.
State Environmental Information Fund
The State Environmental Information Fund is maintained to ensure the exercise of the public right of access to environmental information, promote environmental education and enhance the environmental culture of the population, as well as provide information support to public authorities.
